UPDATE: JAN 24TH 2019 – READ THIS FIRST
Revisions to my original releases of the CHAOS EDITIONS back in May of 2018 are on the way and are due sometime in 2019. No exact ETA as of yet, but I’m hoping I can get them out before the first half of 2019. They will no longer contain the frame rate issues that are in the previous versions, which are still available to download below from Google Drive if you so desire. However, I do not recommend this since updated versions are on the way.
“What was the deal with the frame rate?”
To my eyes, I saw nothing that was particularly wrong with the files when I released my initial CHAOS EDITIONS. Once I released them, however, several people reported a stuttering or ghosting effect happening when they played them back on larger screens. I still did not notice an issue on my end.
For days I tried to find out what was wrong but I just didn’t understand the issue at the time. I thought it was Final Cut Pro X acting weird, I even downloaded it several times thinking I got glitchy versions. After working on these projects for four months with full intent to release the perfect fan edits only to find out they weren’t perfect – I felt very defeated. I stopped progress on fixing the problem altogether and finally revoked access to the downloads. I didn’t even want to think about them at the time.
At the beginning of January in 2018, I finally mustered up the energy to yet again find out what was wrong with my initial releases. AND I DID. I finally noticed the stuttering people were talking about when I watched my fan edits alongside the original Blu-Ray rips. When you rip a Blu-Ray, the original file that results is called a .mkv file. Well, .mkv files are not compatible with Final Cut Pro X, the application I use to create my trailers and fan edits. So, the .mkv file needed to be converted to a .mp4 or .m4v, a file type that Final Cut Pro X can read. The application I used to convert the files was one I’d never heard of before and it was free to use. I should have known something was not right with it when it was able to convert a 2-hour movie in just a few minutes.
This time around, I used Handbrake, a high quality trusted app, to convert the files. Being able to keep the frame rate the same as the source instead of the app giving you no other option and automatically upscaling it to 30 fps helped the issue A LOT. Even though it took 17-20 HOURS to convert each of the original Blu-Ray files, along with all of the deleted scenes and bonus footage, compared to the 7 minutes it took using the other app, it’s going to be well worth it to have the quality I need for these fan edits to be absolutely perfect.
Thanks again for your patience through all of this. – @coalescedchaos

UPDATE: NOV 12TH 2018
For those who don’t care about the issues with the initial versions, I have uploaded the CHAOS EDITIONS to Google Drive which can be downloaded. Again, these files have not been fixed and still contain the frame rate issues. – @muthur9000
UPDATE: MAY 23RD 2018
( 2 weeks after initial release) For those who plan to download the CHAOS EDITIONS, but haven’t yet, I’ve currently revoked access to download them because I need to fix an issue concerning the films’ frame rate. I apologize for the inconvenience. – @coalescedchaos
